लोकसभा चुनावों की तारीख़ें तय की जा चुकी हैं और इसे पूरी दुनिया पिछले कई दशकों के सबसे बड़े चुनावों के तौर पर देख रही है.

देश की दो सबसे बड़ी राजनीतिक पार्टियों के नेता – भारतीय जनता पार्टी के प्रधानमंत्री पद के दावेदार नरेंद्र मोदी और कांग्रेस के उपाध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी धड़ाधड़ रैलियां कर रहे हैं, भाषण दे रहे हैं. उन्हें इंटरनेट पर लगातार लाइव वेबकास्ट भी किया जा रहा है.











लेकिन सवाल इस बात पर उठाए जा रहे हैं कि दोनों ही नेता सिर्फ़ ऐसे मंचों पर जा रहे हैं जहां उनसे कोई कड़े सवाल नहीं पूछ सके. समूहों में आयोजित की जा रही चर्चाएं भी स्थानीय मुद्दों पर आधारित हैं.
दोनों बड़े नेताओं ने हाल-फिलहाल में कोई बड़ा साक्षात्कार नहीं किया है. क्लिक करें राहुल गांधी ने एक अंग्रेज़ी चैनल को इंटरव्यू ज़रूर दिया, लेकिन उसे भी कई सप्ताह बीत गए हैं. ऐसा कहा जा रहा था कि वो अन्य संस्थानों में भी साक्षात्कार के लिए जाएंगे, लेकिन तब से अब तक उनका कोई बड़ा इंटरव्यू नहीं हो पाया.
नरेंद्र मोदी की बात करें तो उन्होंने भी काफ़ी समय से कोई बड़ा इंटरव्यू नहीं दिया है.
तो ऐसे में एक बड़ा सवाल ये है कि क्या ये दोनों नेता भ्रष्टाचार, विकास, सुरक्षा, अर्थव्यवस्था, चिकित्सा जैसे अहम सवालों से मुंह चुरा रहे हैं?

"साढ़े तीन मिनट की रिकॉर्डिंग के बाद अगले क़रीब एक घंटे तक मैं उन्हें (नरेंद्र मोदी) ये समझाने की कोशिश करता रहा कि इंटरव्यू पूरा करना ज़रूरी है, क्योंकि एक मुख्यमंत्री का किसी इंटरव्यू के बीच से उठकर चला जाना अपने आप में एक ख़बर है और इसे एक ख़बर की तरह ही टीवी न्यूज़ बुलेटिन्स में दिखाया जाएगा."

वरिष्ठ पत्रकार प्रमोद जोशी बताते हैं, “एक टीवी इंटरव्यू के बाद राहुल गांधी का रुक जाना यह दर्शाता है कि उस इंटरव्यू का या तो नकारात्मक प्रभाव पड़ा या उन्हें यह प्रभावशाली नहीं लगा. मुझे लगता है कि उनमें इस बात को लेकर घबराहट है कि वह सीधे सवालों का जवाब नहीं दे पाएंगे. यह बात दोनों नेताओं पर लागू होती है. हमारे मौजूदा प्रधानमंत्री क्लिक करें मनमोहन सिंह ने भी इतने लंबे समय में सिर्फ तीन-चार इंटरव्यू ही दिए हैं.”

मीडिया की भूमिका

इस बीच सवाल मीडिया की भूमिका और काम-काज के तरीक़ों पर भी उठाए जा रहे हैं.
प्रमोद जोशी के अनुसार, “हमारा मीडिया, ख़ासतौर पर इलेक्ट्रॉनिक मीडिया के काम का जो तरीक़ा है वो काफ़ी आक्रामक है और कई मौकों पर इसपर बाल की खाल निकालने और बातों को घुमाने का भी आरोप लगता रहा है. विवादों से बचने के लिए भी राजनेता मीडिया से दूरी बनाते हैं.”
ऐसा हो सकता है कि दोनों नेताओं के पास कई सवालों का जवाब न हो, लेकिन प्रमोद जोशी का मानना है कि राजनेताओं में ये कला हमेशा रही है कि वे पत्रकारों के सवालों का घुमाकर-फिराकर जवाब तैयार कर लेते हैं और संवादहीनता उतनी ही ख़तरनाक है जितना किसी के सवाल में फंस जाना.
यह तो रही मीडिया से राजनेताओं की नपी-तुली दूरी की बात, लेकिन क्या कहना है उन लोगों का जिन्होंने बड़े राजनेताओं का इंटरव्यू किया?

(वरिष्ठ पत्रकार करण थापर ने सीएनएन-आईबीएन के कार्यक्रम 'डेविल्स एडवोकेट' के लिए साल 2007 में नरेंद्र मोदी का साक्षात्कार किया था. हालांकि इंटरव्यू शुरू होने के महज़ साढ़े तीन मिनट बाद ही मोदी इंटरव्यू छोड़कर चले गए थे.)
आमतौर पर राजनेता रैलियों में भाषण देना पसंद करते हैं, क्योंकि वहां वो जो मर्ज़ी कह सकते हैं और भीड़ उनसे सवाल-जवाब नहीं कर सकती है. या फिर 30-40 पत्रकारों को बिठाकर प्रेस वार्ताएं करते हैं जिसमें किसी को एक से ज़्यादा सवाल करने की अनुमति नहीं दी जाती है, ताकि कोई कड़े सवाल सही जवाब मिलने तक नहीं पूछ पाए.
मैं मानता हूं कि अगर ऐसा कोई लंबे समय तक जानबूझकर करता है तो वो असल में कड़े सवालों से डरकर भाग रहा होता है.
जहां तक राहुल गांधी और नरेंद्र मोदी की बात है तो राहुल गांधी ने अब तक एक टीवी चैनल को इंटरव्यू दिया है और उसके बाद से ही वो मीडिया से बातचीत में कतरा रहे हैं. नरेंद्र मोदी ने हाल में कोई इंटरव्यू नहीं दिया है.
गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के साथ साल 2007 में हुआ मेरा इंटरव्यू महज़ तीन-साढ़े तीन मिनट तक चल पाया था.

गुजरात दंगों पर देश से माफ़ी मांगने के मेरे सवाल पर नरेंद्र मोदी इंटरव्यू छोड़कर चले गए थे.
साढ़े तीन मिनट की रिकॉर्डिंग के बाद अगले क़रीब एक घंटे तक मैं उन्हें ये समझाने की कोशिश करता रहा कि इंटरव्यू पूरा करना ज़रूरी है, क्योंकि एक मुख्यमंत्री का किसी इंटरव्यू के बीच से उठकर चला जाना अपने आप में एक ख़बर है और इसे एक ख़बर की तरह ही टीवी न्यूज़ बुलेटिन्स में दिखाया जाएगा.
दूसरी रास्ता यह था कि वो रुक जाते और इंटरव्यू पूरा करते, तो ये ख़बर शायद एक-दो बार ही चलती जिसके बाद पूरा इंटरव्यू चला दिया जाता.
लेकिन वो मेरी बात नहीं समझे. नरेंद्र मोदी ने मुझसे कहा कि उनका मूड ख़राब हो गया है और अब वो किसी और दिन ही इंटरव्यू कर पाएंगे.
अगले पूरे दिन वही साढ़े तीन मिनट का इंटरव्यू सीएनएन-आईबीएन चैनल पर प्रत्येक बुलेटिन पर चलाया गया, पूरे दिन क़रीब में क़रीब 40 बार.
उसी शाम नरेंद्र मोदी ने मुझे फ़ोन पर कहा कि ‘तुम बंदूक को मेरे कंधे रखकर गोली मार रहे हो’. मैने उन्हें बताया कि बिल्कुल वहीं हुआ है जिसकी कल मैंने कल्पना की थी और आपको बताया भी था.
उन्होंने हंसकर कहा, 'चलो कोई बात नहीं. भाई, मैं आपसे बेहद प्यार करता हूं. हम दिल्ली आएंगे तो साथ मिलकर भोजन करेंगे.'
हालांकि, यह मेरी बदकिस्मती रही कि उनके साथ कभी भोजन नहीं कर पाया.
जहां तक मुझे याद पड़ता है उसके बाद कभी मेरी उनसे बात नहीं हुई. मैने उन्हें कई चिठ्ठियां लिखी लेकिन कभी किसी का जवाब नहीं मिला.

(टेलीविज़न चैनल एनडीटीवी के लिए वरिष्ठ पत्रकार विजय त्रिवेदी ने नरेंद्र मोदी का इंटरव्यू किया था.)
नेताओं को रैलियों में भाषण देना, उसे लाइव इंटरनेट पर दिखाना या सोशल मीडिया पर पोस्ट करना पसंद होता है क्योंकि वहां वो अपनी पसंद के मुताबिक़ बातें कर सकते हैं, कोई सवाल नहीं पूछता है.
ऐसा करके वो उन मूल सवालों से बच जाते हैं जो उन्हें परेशान करते हैं, जैसे राहुल गांधी से पूछा जाए कि वो परिवारवाद के ख़िलाफ़ बोलते हैं तो सबसे पहले ख़ुद इस्तीफ़ा क्यों नहीं देते? वैसे ही नरेंद्र मोदी जिस तरह से राजस्थान या बिहार में जाकर कांग्रेस शासन में हुए दंगों की बात करते हैं पर गुजरात दंगों पर महत्वपूर्ण सवालों के जवाब क्यों नहीं देते?
वे एकतरफा संवाद रखना चाहते हैं, क्योंकि अगर पत्रकार या जनता सवाल पूछती है तो उनमें से कई का जवाब नेताओं के पास नहीं होता है.
इंटरव्यू तय करने से पहले भी कई नेताओं की टीमें कोशिश करतीं है कि उन्हें सवाल पहले से पता चल जाए. ताकि वो सोच-समझकर जवाब तैयार कर लें. लेकिन निजी तौर पर मैं ऐसा कह सकता हूं कि मैंने कभी अपने सवाल किसी गेस्ट को पहले नहीं बताए, हालांकि इसका मुझे नुकसान भी हुआ है. लोग इंटरव्यू बीच में छोड़कर जा चुके हैं.
ऐसे में रैलियां उनके लिए एक संजीवनी होती है, जहां वे उन मुद्दों पर बात कर सकते हैं जिनपर वे बात करना चाहते हैं.
सोशल मीडिया के बारे में भी कहा जाता है कि वहां नेता जनता से जुड़ने के लिए आते हैं. दरअसल वे वहां अपनी बात आप तक पहुंचाने के लिए आते हैं, न कि आपकी बाते सुनने या उसका जवाब देने.
सोशल मीडिया पर भी संवाद मैनेज किए जाने की कोशिश की जाती है. नेता उन्ही सवालों का जवाब देते है जिसका वो देना चाहते हैं, उन्ही सवालों को हाईलाइट भी किया जाता है और उस पर लीपापोती भी की जाती है. उनकी सोशल मीडिया टीमें यही काम करती हैं.
अगर वो वाकई मूल सवालों का जवाब सोशल मीडिया पर देते हैं तो टीवी या अख़बारों पर जवाब देने में क्या समस्या हो सकती है उन्हें?

अप्रैल 2009 की बात है जब मैंने नरेंद्र मोदी के साथ एक इंटरव्यू

किया था. योजना थी की हम अहमदाबाद से नरेंद्र मोदी के साथ हेलिकॉप्टर पर दो रैलियों में जाएंगे, उन्हें इंटरव्यू करेंगे. बाद में नरेंद्र मोदी को दूसरे एक विमान से मुंबई जाना था और हमें चॉपर से वापस अहमदाबाद आना था.
जब हम अहमदाबाद में हेलिकॉप्टर में बैठे तो हमें बताया गया था कि यात्रा का समय 45 मिनट है. हमें क़रीब 30 मिनट का इंटरव्यू करना था तो हम तुरंत शुरू हो गए.
सवाल शुरू करने के लगभग 5-7 मिनट बाद ही नरेंद्र मोदी थोड़े असहज हो गए थे इसके बावजूद जब हम अपने सवाल दोहराते रहे, 10-12 मिनट में वो पूरी तरह से असहज हो गए और इंटरव्यू रोकने का इशारा करने लगे. इंटरव्यू बंद हो गया और उसके बाद 10-15 मिनट तक हम दोनों अगल-बगल बिना एक दूसरे की तरफ देखे बैठे रहे.
हेलिकॉप्टर के उतरते ही नरेंद्र मोदी ने मुझसे कहा कि ‘विजय भाई यह हमारी आख़िरी मुलाक़ात है. आपके लिए एक गाड़ी की व्यवस्था की जा रही है, आप उससे लौट जाएं.’ हमने उनसे कहा कि वो चिंता न करे, अपने लिए गाड़ी की व्यवस्था हम खुद ही कर लेंगे.
तब से अब तक नरेंद्र मोदी से हमारी कोई बात नहीं हुई. हमने स्पष्ट तौर पर कहा था कि हम नरेंद्र मोदी को जनता का नुमाइंदा मानते हैं और उनसे उन्ही सवालों को पूछा जिनका जवाब जनता सुनना चाहती है. मौका मिलेगा तो उन सवालों को हम फिर पूछेंगे.





 शाहिद सिद्दीक़ी

(ऊर्दू नई दुनिया पत्रिका के संपादक और पूर्व सांसद शाहिद सिद्दीक़ी ने जुलाई 2012 में नरेंद्र मोदी का इंटरव्यू किया था.)
नरेंद्र मोदी और राहुल गांधी अपनी बात जनता तक पहुंचा पाने में सक्षम है, लेकिन उनकी समस्या ये है कि पूछे जाने के लिए सवाल बहुत सारे हैं.
कई ऐसे भी सवाल हैं जिनका उनके पास जवाब नहीं है और अगर है तो वे देना नहीं चाहतें. क्योंकि उन्हें पता है कि अगर सही जवाब दे दिया गया तो इसके परिणाम उनके खिलाफ़ जा सकते हैं.
इसलिए दोनों नेता चुनाव के समय जवाबदेही से बचना चाहते हैं. ये अमरीका या इग्लैंड नहीं है जहां नेता ख़ुद चाहते हैं कि उनसे सवाल पूछे जाए और उसका जवाब वे ईमानदारी से जवाब दे. यहां एक सच सबको नहीं पचता, कोई न कोई नाराज़ ज़रूर होता है.
इलेक्ट्रॉनिक मीडिया का रवैया भी कभी-कभी सही नहीं होता. चर्चा में जो गेस्ट बुलाए जाते हैं उन्हें बोलने का मौका नहीं दिया जाता और कुछ एंकर यह साबित करने में तुल जाते हैं कि जिनसे सवाल पूछे जा रहे हैं वो “गधे” हैं या उनकी समझ कितनी कम है. बातों को भी तोड़-मरोड़ कर मतलब निकाले जाते हैं. मुझे लगता है कि शायद इसलिए भी नेता टीवी पर साक्षात्कार देने से बचने लगे हैं.
जहां तक नरेंद्र मोदी के साथ मेरे साक्षात्कार की बात है तो वो अचानक हुआ. मेरा कोई इरादा नहीं था उन्हें इंटरव्यू करने का.

'मोदी ने लगवाए कैमरे'

मैं नई दुनिया ऊर्दू का संपादक और समाजवादी पार्टी से जुड़ा हुआ था. मैने कई मौकों पर उनकी मुख़ालफ़त भी की थी.
मुंबई मे एक दिन मैं सलमान ख़ान के पिता सलीम ख़ान और फ़िल्म निर्माता महेश भट्ट के साथ बैठा हुआ था, तभी सलीम ख़ान ने मुझसे पूछा कि मैं नरेंद्र मोदी का साक्षात्कार क्यों नहीं करता. मैने जवाब में उनसे कहा कि मोदी बात नहीं करते और साक्षात्कार के नाम पर कतराते हैं. ये बात ज़ेहन में कहीं फंसी रह गई.
कुछ दिनों बाद नरेंद्र मोदी के दफ़्तर में कोई मिला जिनके ज़रिए मैने नई दुनिया ऊर्दू के संपादक की हैसियत से साक्षात्कार का प्रस्ताव भेजा और मुझे नरेंद्र मोदी की स्वीकृति मिल गई.
उन्होंने सवाल मांगे, लेकिन हमने उन्हें सवाल देने से मना कर दिया और बताया कि हम सीधे साक्षात्कार में ही सवाल पूछते हैं. मैंने उन्हें विश्वास दिलाया कि हम बातों को तोड़ते-मरोड़ते नहीं है और जो बाते वो कहेंगे उसे बिना छेड़े अख़बार में छापेंगे. हमारी शर्त ये थी कि वो इंटरव्यू पूरा करेंगे और आधे में छोड़कर भागेंगे नहीं.
हम इंटरव्यू करने पहुंचे तो देखा कि कई लोग वीडियो कैमरों के साथ भी तैनात थे ताकि जो कुछ भी मोदी कहें उसका रिकॉर्ड रखा जाए.
मैने शालीनता से उनसे तमाम ऐसे सवाल पूछे जो उस समय तक पूछे नहीं गए थे, या किसी ने पूछने की हिम्मत नहीं की थी. उन्होंने सबके जवाब भी दिए. ये एक ऐसा इंटरव्यू था जिसे काफ़ी समय तक लोग नरेंद्र मोदी का दिमाग पढ़ने के लिए सुनना-पढ़ना पसंद करेंगे.

 सुलतानपुर: भारतीय जनता पार्टी(भाजपा) के महासचिव वरूण गाधी ने कहा है कि जातिवाद, धर्मवाद व क्षेत्रवाद से ऊपर उठकर ईमानदारी की राजनीति करके जनता की बुलन्द आवाज बनना चाहता हॅू। गांधी ने कहा कि भ्रष्ट राजनीति के कारण ही सुलतानपुर विकास में पीछे रहा हैं और इसका का नाम राष्ट्रीय मानचित्र पर स्थापित करना चाहते हैं।

गांधी अपने संसदीय क्षेत्र में आज यहां अपने पांच दिवसीय दौरे के दूसरे दिन की शुरू आत बेलहरी स्थित आश्रम में चौरासी बाबा के दर्शन के साथ शुरू की और कहा कि वह ईमानदारी की राजनीति करना चाहते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि वह राजनीति की परिभाषा को बदलने आए हैं। सुलतानपुर लोकसभा क्षेत्र से प्रत्याशी के रप में आज यहां 17 नुक्कड सभाओं में बरौसा चौराहे पर पहली सभा को सम्बोधित करते हुए वरूण गांधी ने कहा कि मैं चाहता हूॅं कि यहां से जातिवाद, धर्मवाद व क्षेत्रवाद का खात्मा हो।

राहुल गांधी के भाई, जिन्होंने पहले ही चुनाव में जब्त करा दी थी सब की जमानत!

वरुण गांधी भारतीय जनता पार्टी के चर्चित चेहरों में से एक हैं। वे अपने ओजस्वी भाषणों के कारण खूब चर्चा में रहे हैं। वर्तमान में वरुण गांधी पीलीभीत (उत्तर प्रदेश) लोकसभा सीट से सांसद और भाजपा के नेशनल सेक्रेटरी हैं। बता दें कि वे भाजपा के अब तक के इतिहास में सबसे युवा जनरल सेक्रेटरी हैं। भाजपा ने वरुण गांधी को लोकसभा चुनाव के लिए राजनाथ सिंह के नेतृत्व में गठित टीम में महत्वपूर्ण जिम्मेदारी सौंपी है।

राहुल के चचेरे भाई हैं वरुण :

वरुण उसी नेहरू-गांधी परिवार से संबंध रखते हैं, जिससे कि राहुल गांधी। वे देश की पहली महिला प्रधानमंत्री स्व. इंदिरा गांधी के पोते और पहले प्रधानमंत्री स्व. पंडित जवाहर लाल नेहरू के परपोते हैं। इंदिरा गांधी के दो बेटे थे राजीव गांधी और संजय गांधी। वरुण, उनके छोटे बेटे संजय गांधी के पुत्र हैं।

1980 में हुआ था वरुण का जन्म :

वरुण गांधी का जन्म 13 मार्च 1980 को नई दिल्ली में हुआ था। उनकी मां का नाम मेनका गांधी है, जो वर्तमान में भारतीय जनता पार्टी की राष्ट्रीय नेता और आंवला (उत्तर प्रदेश) से सांसद हैं। गौरतलब है कि वे 6 में से 5 बार पीलीभीत सीट से विजयी रही हैं। 2009 में उन्होंने अपने बेटे वरुण के लिए यह सीट छोड़कर आंवला से लोकसभा चुनाव लड़ा और जीत हासिल की थी।

3 माह के उम्र में पिता का निधन :

23 जून 1980 को वरुण के पिता संजय गांधी का प्लेन दुर्घटना में आकस्मिक निधन हो गया था। उनकी गिनती भारतीय राजनीति के उभरते सितारों में होती थी। गौरतलब है कि इस समय उनकी उम्र मात्र 3 माह थी और जब वे 4 साल के हुए तब उनकी दादी इंदिरा गांधी की हत्या कर दी गई थी।

वरुण गांधी ने साल 2009 में पीलीभीत से लोकसभा चुनाव जीतते हुए, अपने सारे प्रतिद्वंदियों की जमानत जब्त करा दी थी। भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी आंदोलन में भाग लेने वाले वे पहले नेता है।

अन्ना के आंदोलन में पहुंचने वाले पहले राजनेता :

साल 2011 में जिस समय अन्ना हजारे भ्रष्टाचार मुक्त समाज की कल्पना लिए जन लोकपाल बिल के लिए आंदोलन कर रहे थे, उस समय वरुण ने उन्हें अपने सरकारी आवास पर अनशन करने का ऑफर दिया था, लेकिन उन्होंने इनकार कर दिया। जब अन्ना जेल चले गए तो वरुण ने संसद में जन लोकपाल बिल की पेशकश की। इतना ही नहीं, वे अन्ना के आंदोलन को सपोर्ट करने के लिए एक आम आदमी के रूप में रामलीला मैदान भी पहुंचे थे। बता दें कि  वे पहले पॉलिटीशियन हैं, जिन्होंने भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी अभियान को खिलकर सपोर्ट किया।

1999 में आए राजनीति में :

मेनका गांधी साल 1999 में लोकसभा चुनावों के दौरान वरुण को लाइम लाइट में लेकर आई थीं। इस समय वे पीलीभीत से चुनाव लड़ रही थीं और वरुण उनके साथ चुनाव प्रचार का हिस्सा बने थे। साल 2004 में वरुण और मेनका गांधी ने भाजपा की सदस्यता ले ली। इस समय वरुण ने लगभग 40 लोकसभा सीटों में पार्टी का प्रचार-प्रसार किया था।

2009 में लड़े पहली बार चुनाव :

वरुण गांधी भले ही साल 1999 में राजनीति से जुड़ गए थे, लेकिन चुनाव लड़ने के लिए उन्हें 10 साल का इंतज़ार करना पड़ा।2009 में भाजपा ने वरुण को वहीं से टिकट देने का फैसला किया, जहां से की उनकी मां मेनका गांधी लड़ा करती थीं। पीलीभीत से वे लोकसभा चुनाव लड़े और अपने प्रतिद्वंदी वी. एम सिंह को के भारी अंतर से हराया।

गांधी परिवार के 4 सदस्यों में सबसे आगे :

2009 में जब वरुण पीलीभीत से विजेता घोषित हुए तो उन्हें कुल 419,539 वोट मिले थे। उन्होंने अपने प्रतिद्वंदी वी. एम सिंह को 281,501 वोटों से हराया था। वरुण की यह जीत गांधी परिवार के चारों सदस्यों मां मेनका, ताई सोनिया, चचेरे भाई राहुल गांधी और स्वयं में सबसे मजबूत जीत जीत थी। इस हिसाब से वरुण गांधी परिवार के सभी सदस्यों में सबसे आगे हैं।

सभी सदस्यों की जमानत जब्त :

वरुण गांधी ने इस चुनाव में भारी मतों से जीत तो हासिल की ही थी, लेकिन रोचक बात यह है कि बाक़ी सभी सदस्यों की जमानत तक जब्त हो गई थी। इन सदस्यों में कांग्रेस के वी.एम सिंह और बहुजन समाज पार्टी के गंगाचरण चौधरी भी शामिल हैं।

भाषणों के कारण दर्ज हो चुके हैं केस :

वरुण गांधी पर पीलीभीत में एक भाषण के दौरान मुसलमानों के खिलाफ अभद्र टिप्पणी करने के बाद केस दर्ज कराया गया था। बाद में अदालत ने उन्हें इस मामले में बरी कर दिया था। मार्च 2013 में एक बार फिर वे अभद्र भाषा के कारण कोर्ट तक पहुंच गए थे, लेकिन उन्हें इस बार भी राहत मिल गई थी।

2011 में की शादी :

साल 2011 में वरुण गांधी ने यामिनी रॉय चौधरी से शादी की। यामिनी डिप्लोमेट सुनील रॉय चौधरी की बेटी हैं। वैसे तो इस शादी को काफी हाई प्रोफाइल बनाने की योजना थी, लेकिन बाद में यह काफी सादगी से हुई। इस शादी में कुछ पारिवारिक सदस्य, दोनों ही पक्षों के कुछ गिने-चुने रिश्तेदार और कुछ करीबी दोस्त ही शामिल हुए थे। सूत्रों की मानें तो इस शादी में करीब 25 मेहमान मौजूद थे। गौरतलब है कि इस शादी में वरुण की ताई सोनिया गांधी, भाई राहुल और बहन प्रियंका शामिल नहीं हुए थे। वरुण और यामिनी ने कांची मठ के काशी काम कोटेश्वर मंदिर में सात फेरे लिए थे।

Feroze Varun Gandhi (born 13 March 1980) is an Indian politician, he is a member of Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament of India, representing the Pilibhit constituency. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party National Executive and the youngest National Secretary in the history of the party.^[2][3] Varun Gandhi was inducted into Rajnath Singh's Team 2014 in March 2013. He was appointed as General Secretary, becoming the youngest General Secretary in the history of the party.^[4]

Early life

Varun Gandhi was born in Delhi on 13 March 1980 to Sanjay Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi, he is the grandson of the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi and the great-grandson of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. His father died in a plane crash when he was three months old in June 1980. His grandmother was assassinated when Varun was four years old on 31 October 1984. Indira Gandhi is said to have been very fond of Varun and was greatly distressed when his mother left the household.^[5]
Varun attended Rishi Valley School and the British School, New Delhi, where he was elected secretary of the student council. He graduated from the university of London through a distance education programme. Varun graduated from the London School of Economics and the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies.

Early political career

Varun Gandhi was first introduced to the Pilibhit constituency by his mother during the 1999 election campaigning.^[6] He and his mother joined BJP in 2004; she had been a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) since earlier.^[7] Varun Gandhi campaigned for the party in the 2004 elections, covering over 40 constituencies.^[8]
In an interview to Stephen Sackur in BBC's HARDtalk in October 2005, Gandhi answered questions about the reasons behind his political affiliation and defended his father as someone who had helped revive the industrialisation of India by starting Maruti Udyog and whose strategy helped the Congress party's comeback after the first ever non-Congress Janata Dal government following an electoral routing for the Indira Gandhi-government after Emergency, among many other things.^[9]

As a Member of Parliament

In the 2009 general election, the BJP decided to field Varun Gandhi as its candidate from the Pilibhit constituency instead of his mother Maneka Gandhi.^[10] He won the seat by receiving 419,539 votes and defeated his nearest contending candidate, V.M. Singh, by a margin of 281,501 votes.^{[11][12][13][14][15]} The victory was the strongest of any of the four Gandhi family candidates in the election: his mother Maneka Gandhi, aunt Sonia Gandhi and first cousin Rahul Gandhi. The security deposits of all other candidates, including those of V.M. Singh of the Indian National Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Ganga Charan Rajput were forfeited.^[16] A case was filed against Gandhi for allegedly making a provocative speech about Muslims, at a meeting at Dalchand Mohalla area of Pilibhit, however he was acquitted by in court in the matter.^[17][18] On 5 March 2013, a Pilibhit court acquitted Gandhi in the second hate speech case registered against him during the 2009 Lok Sabha election campaign.^[19]
In March 2013, Rajnath Singh appointed Varun Gandhi as the national general secretary of the BJP. He became the youngest ever general secretary of the party. In May 2013, Varun Gandhi was made in-charge of the BJP's affairs in West Bengal. In June 2013, Gandhi requested Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to call an emergency all party meeting in view of the calamity in Uttarakhand in which thousands of people had died. He suggested a number of step like contribution from MPLADs fund, forgoing of three months salary by MPs and tax incentives for corporate and individuals for help. He has said that he spoke to many MPs and all of them were ready to contribute. He said that the Speaker should act as a catalyst and coordinate the action plan.^[19]
In July 2013, Gandhi handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh from his salary account to family members of former Jan Sangh Member of Legislative Assembly late Bhagwati Prasad, who died at a government hospital after prolonged illness and age-related complications. The former MLA had to spend over an hour on the floor of an emergency ward before doctors at the hospital realised he was an ex-MLA and was subsequently given medical attention. His family didn't even have money to perform the last rites after his death. Varun said he came to know about Prasad only after his death. Describing the late MLA as a model of honesty, he said it was hard to find an honest leader like him.^[19]
In August 2013, newspapers reported that Gandhi was the only MP in the country who had spent cent per cent of his MP Local Area Development Fund (MPLAD) before stipulated time. According to official sources, Varun Gandhi used his funds for the development in education, health and infrastructure activities. His proposals were worth more than the entire MPLAD fund thus ensuring the entire amount of `25 crore was spent during his tenure as a Member of Parliament. His political aides stated that he submitted the proposals on time and also employed his personal team to monitor the use of money. ^[20]
In September 2013, Varun Gandhi accused the Samajwadi Party-led Uttar Pradesh government of pursuing the politics of appeasement, and said that its mistakes would lead to its collapse, after it denied permission to Varun Gandhi's rally in Agra just two days before it was scheduled to take place. ^[21]
He denounced Rahul Gandhi's infamous outburst against the controversial ordinance against convicted lawmakers, and said that it was an insult to the Prime Minister, who was abroad at the time, and therefore also disgraceful to the nation. ^[22] He also said that if the Prime Minister had any dignity left, he should resign immediately upon his return to the country, on the day of Rahul Gandhi's outburst. ^[23]
In February 2014, Gandhi kickstarted his campaign for election 2014 in Sultanpur. He gave an emotional speech to an enthusiastic crowd in Kadipur, and said that he had come to Sultanpur to fulfill his father's dreams. ^[24]

Jan Lokpal Bill

In August 2011, Varun Gandhi strongly pitched for the Jan Lokpal Bill. Gandhi offered his official residence to Hazare to hold his fast, after Hazare was denied permission by the government.^[25] When Hazare was jailed, Gandhi offered to table the Jan Lokpal Bill in Parliament.^[26] On 24 August, he went to Ramlila Maidan as a common man to support the cause of Anna Hazare, becoming the first politician to openly support the anti-corruption cause.^[27]

The Person

Sandeep Maheshwari is a name among millions who struggled, failed and surged ahead in search of success, happiness and contentment. Just like any middle class guy, he too had a bunch of unclear dreams and a blurred vision of his goals in life. All he had was an undying learning attitude to hold on to. Rowing through ups and downs, it was time that taught him the true meaning of his life.  And once discovered, he consistently kept resigning from his comfort zone and to share the secret of his success with the entire world. It is this very urge of helping people and doing something good for the society that inspired him to take the initiative of changing people’s lives in the form of "Free Life-Changing Seminars and Sessions". No wonder people connect with him and his mission of ‘Sharing’ is now being actively propagated and practiced by millions. It is his diligent focus, the great support of his family and the faith of his team that keeps him going.
The Starting Point
Like everyone else, Sandeep also started somewhere. His family was into the Aluminum business, which collapsed and the onus was onto him to fill in this crucial time of need. And as expected by any young guy, he started doing everything he could. Right from joining a multi-level marketing company to manufacturing & marketing household products. He left no stone unturned.
It was during this phase, he discovered interest and need beyond any formal education. Hence, instead of being a brilliant student, he opted to drop out of Kirorimal College, Delhi in the third year of B.Com. Rather, he embarked on the journey of studying yet another interesting subject. A subject called life.
Attracted by the scintillating modeling world, he started his career as a model at the age of 19. Witnessing the harassment and exploitation experienced by models, something in him moved. And it was this turning moment when he decided to help countless struggling models. With a mission within, he started small. A 2-week course in photography and there he was, a dime-a-dozen photographer with a camera in his hand. Nothing much changed. Moving ahead with a burning desire to change the modeling world, he set up his own company by the name of Mash Audio Visuals Pvt. Ltd and started making portfolios.
Next, in the year 2002, he along with his three friends, started a company, which was closed within six months. But Sandeep’s mind was still open. With the concept of ‘Sharing’ in his heart, he summed up his entire experience in a reversed book on marketing. He was just 21.
It was the year 2003. He created a world record by knocking down a juggernaut task of taking more than 10,000 shots of 122 models in just 10 hours and 45 minutes. But as expected, he didn’t stop. His focus was not diluted by the glamour and temporary adulation he got. Rather, this fueled his innate desire to revamp the modeling world further. At the age of 26, he launched ImagesBazaar. The year was 2006. Not being a massive setup, he took the job of multi-tasking. Being the counselor, tele-caller and a photographer all by himself, he paved his way forward. And today, ImagesBazaar is the world’s largest collection of Indian images with over a million images and more than 7000 clients across 45 countries.
Sandeep has single handedly brought this paradigm shift in the modeling world. Countless models have been successfully launched with words like exploitation and harassment sidelined to a large extent.
It was this life-changing endeavor that made him one of the most renowned entrepreneurs of India at a young age of 29. His ethics resonating some of the philosophies like ‘To Never Fear of Failures’ and "Be Truthful to self and others".
Apart from being a disciplined entrepreneur, Sandeep Maheshwari is an extraordinary human being. Today, he is a guide, a mentor, a role model and a youth icon for millions of people all over the world. People love and adore him for his great mission of making everybody believe in them and helping people to make their life ‘Aasaan’ (Easy).
His unshakable faith in the divine power grants him strength to thrive. But like everything else, he sums this all up in simple yet uncompromising words “Live with less, but only with the best.” Being at the helm of success, it is quite astonishing to know that money does not lure him.
