To submit your site for rating, re-evaluation, or to appeal the rating of your site, you need to create a Norton Safe Web account and verify the ownership of your site. Follow these steps:

1. Signup for an account with Norton Safe Web if you haven't already done so.
2. On the "site dispute" tab of your profile page, click the "Add site" link and enter your Web site address. (Check out the Web site registration tips for more information.)
3. You will receive an email on successful registration of your Web site. Please follow the instructions in the email carefully. Alternatively the site verification instructions will also be displayed on the "site dispute" page.
4. Once you have completed the site verification steps, click "Verify Now" (next to your Web site name) to establish ownership. You need to have your site ownership verified in order to submit your site to be rated. Please visit the Web site ownership verification tips for more information about this process.

How to get your site rated 

Please note that your site needs to be registered and site ownership verified to get the site rated. See Getting started with Norton Safe Web for more information.
If your site is currently untested by Norton Safe Web a gray icon appears on the site report page. To submit your site for rating:

1. Sign in to your Norton Safe Web account.
2. On the Site Dispute page, click "Rate my site" next to the site name. Note that the initial evaluation process takes about two weeks to complete.

What is Norton Secured Seal? How do I get this rating?

Choose the "site dispute" tab and use the "Add site" link to submit your site name. When registering a Web site, to your profile make sure you:

• First select the protocol (http or https) of your Web site from the drop down and
• Then type your Web site address (Eg: www.symantec.com) or URL, without the protocol (http or https), in the text box.

Any typographical errors will prevent successful completion of the Web site registration process, so please be accurate when entering the information.
When you successfully register the site, you will receive an email explaining two methods for ownership verification.

Web site ownership verification tips 

After your Web site is registered, it needs to be submitted for ownership verification. When you register the site, you will receive an email explaining two methods for ownership verification. There are also instructions on the "site dispute" page of your profile.

To start the verification process, click on "Verify your site".

You can check the site name you entered is correct by clicking on the site name link next to "Verifying site". If you're unable to access your site through this link, double check the spelling and/or the protocol entered, and make corrections as needed.

Then select one of the two site verification methods: meta tag or upload an HTML file.

1. When using the first method, to add a meta tag into your Web site's home page, please be aware of the following placement and content issues.
   
   Meta Tag Placement The <meta> tag must be placed in the <head> section, before the first <body> section.
   
   For example:

   Meta Tag Content The authentication code string must exactly match the generated string.    To create a custom meta tag:
   
   1. Open your meta tag creator tool.
   2. For the meta tag name enter exactly: norton-safeweb-site-verification
   3. For content, copy and paste only your 128-character authentication code. (Be sure there are no line breaks or spaces in the code.)
   4. Save the new meta tag to your home page and then upload or publish the page.
   If you are unable to place a new meta tag in your Web site home page, add the authentication code string to your list of keywords. For example:
   <meta name="keywords" content="keyword1, keyword2, nsw-actual_string_content_with_no_spaces_or_line_feed_or_formatting_characters"/> Once you have added the meta tag in your homepage, click on the orange "Verify Now" button.
   
2. The second verification method requires that you add an HTML authentication file at the root folder of your Web site. When you select the verification method "Upload an HTML file", click the link to download the authentication file.
   Once you click on the link, you will be presented with a new window indicating a file download (note, this window may look different depending on what browser you're using). "Save" the file to a convenient location on your computer.
   Using your site building program, upload / copy the saved HTML file to your Root Directory of your website.

   Once you confirm the upload is successful, click on the orange "Verify Now" button
   

If you have correctly completed the site verification process, you should see "ownership verified" in the status column next to your site name on the site dispute page.
Once your Web site ownership verification is complete, you may remove the HTML file from the root folder or remove the authentication code you entered in the meta tags. Before removal, please ensure you can see the ownership verified status in the "site dispute" tab in your Safe Web account.

Verification steps for google sites

If you host your Web site on Google sites, follow these steps to complete the site verification:

1. Go to your Google sites homepage.
2. Click on "More actions" button on the top right.
3. Click "Manage site" in the drop down menu.
4. Click "General" under "Site settings" on the left side pane
5. Add the 128-character authentication code (contents of the norton-safeweb-site-verification meta-tag) into the "Site Description" box as below. (Be sure there are no line breaks or spaces in the code.) The authentication code can be added either before or after the site description text.

6. Click "Save changes" button.
7. Now go back to the "site dispute" tab of your Safe Web profile page. Click on "Verify your site" link against the Google site you want to verify. Click on the "meta tag" link and click the orange "Verify now" button at the bottom.

विश्व के सबसे बड़े बैंकों में से एक और यूरोप के सबसे बड़े बैंक एचएसबीसी ने घोषणा की है कि वो विश्व भर में अपने बैंकों से कम से कम 25,000 नौकरियों की कटौती करेगा.

यानी एचएसबीसी के 2,66,000 कर्मचारियों में से करीब 10% कर्मचारियों की नौकरियां जाएंगी.
इनमें से 8,000 नौकरियां ब्रिटेन में जाएंगी.
एचएसबीसी की कोशिश है कि वो अपना खर्च कम कर सके और अपने बिज़नेस को सरल बना सके.

ब्रिटेन में एचएसबीसी में 48,000 कर्मचारी काम करते हैं. बैंक ने घोषणा की है कि वो न सिर्फ़ रीटेल बैंकिंग बल्कि इन्वेस्टमेंट बैंकिग में भी कटौती करेगी.
साथ ही ये भी घोषणा की है कि वे ब्राज़ील और तुर्की में अपनी इकाइयां बेच देंगे.

साथ ही इस बात पर भी विचार किया जा रहा है कि बैंक के ग्लोबल हेडक्वार्टर को लंदन से कहीं ओर शिफ्ट किया जाए.
संवाददाताओं का कहना है कि वैश्विक आर्थिक मंदी के बाद से ही एचएसबीसी अपना मुनाफ़ा बढ़ाने के लिए संघर्ष कर रहा है.

एचएसबीसी अपने ब्रितानी ब्रांचों को एक नया नाम देने पर भी विचार कर रहा हैं.
बैंक के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी स्टुअर्ट गलिवर ने कहा कि वो चाहते हैं कि लोग बैंक के इन्वेस्टमेंट और रीटेल बैंकिंग के बीच का अंतर पहचानें.
दरअसल नई सरकार के नए नियमों के मुताबिक एचएसबीसी के लिए ये अनिवार्य है कि वो अपने दो तरह के बैंकिंग ऑपरेशन्स को अलग-अलग रखे.

भारत सरकार ने 4,470 ग़ैर सरकारी संगठनों यानि एनजीओ के लाइसेंस रद्द कर दिए हैं. इसका मतलब ये हुआ कि ये संस्थाएं विदेशों से फंड हासिल नहीं कर सकेंगी.

समाचार एजेंसी पीटीआई के मुताबिक़ इनमें कई प्रतिष्ठित विश्वविद्यालय, सप्रीम कोर्ट बार एसोसिएशन और एस्कॉर्ट्स हार्ट अस्पताल जैसी संस्थाएं भी शामिल हैं.
समाचार एजेंसी का कहना है कि इन स्वंयसेवी संस्थाओं के पंजीकरण को रद्द करने का फ़ैसला केंद्रीय गृह मंत्रालय ने विदेशी चंदा क़ानून के दायरे में लिया है.

कई तरह की गड़बड़िया

ख़बरों के मुताबिक़ मंत्रालय ने इन संस्थाओं के कामकाज की जांच पड़ताल में सालाना रिटर्न्स फ़ाइल न करने और दूसरी कई तरह की गड़बड़ियां पाईं.

सूत्रों के हवाले से कहा गया है कि गृह मंत्रालय ने इन सभी को पहले नोटिस भेजा था जिसका जवाब देने के लिए उन्हें ख़ासा वक़्त दिया गया.
जिन दूसरी संस्थाओं का विदेशी चंदा हासिल करने का लाइसेंस रद्द हुआ है उनमें चंडीगढ़ स्थित पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय, गुजरात राष्ट्रीय विधि विश्वविद्यालय, दिल्ली का गार्गी कालेज, विक्रम साराभाई फाउंडेशन और कबीर शामिल हैं.
कबीर को दिल्ली के उप मुख्यमंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया ने शुरू किया था.

कुछ दिनों पहले सरकार ने विदेशी चंदा क़ानून के कथित उल्लंघन के चलते 9,000 स्वंयसेवी संस्थाओं के लाइसेंस रद्द कर दिए थे.

सूचना और प्रसारण राज्यमंत्री राज्यवर्धन सिंह राठौर ने इसकी पुष्टि की है कि भारतीय सेना ने म्यांमार के भीतर घुसकर चरमपंथियों के दो कैंप नष्ट कर दिए हैं.

एक टीवी न्यूज़ चैनल से बातचीत में राठौर ने कहा, "ये विशेष सैन्य बलों का का म्यांमार सीमा के भीतर किया गया एक अभियान था. भारतीय सेना ने चरमपंथियों के दो कैंप तबाह कर दिए."उन्होंने कहा, "यह प्रधानमंत्री द्वारा लिया गया एक ऐतिहासिक और साहसिक फ़ैसला था."

इससे पहले भारतीय सेना ने भी भारत-म्यामांर सीमा पर चरमपंथियों के साथ मुठभेड़ की पुष्टि की.
सेना के मुताबिक इस मुठभेड़ में बड़ी संख्या में चरमपंथी मारे गए.

भारतीय सेना मुख्यालय में सैन्य अभियानों के अतिरिक्त महानिदेशक मेजर जनरल रनबीर सिंह ने बताया कि मंगलवार सुबह म्यामांर सीमा पर दो अलग-अलग स्थानों पर भारतीय सेना और चरमपंथियों के बीच मुठभेड़ हुई.उनके मुताबिक इस मुठभेड़ में चरमपंथियों को भारी नुक़सान हुआ है. हालांकि उन्होंने मारे गए चरमपंथियों की संख्या स्पष्ट नहीं की.रनबीर सिंह ने कहा, "पिछले कुछ दिनों में हमें बेहद विश्वसनीय और सटीक जानकारी मिली थी कि हमारे ख़िलाफ़ कुछ और हमले हो सकते हैं. ख़ुफ़िया जानाकारी के आधार पर हमने इन हमलों को रोकने के लिए अभियान चलाया."

उन्होंने बताया, "आज सुबह भारतीय सेना ने म्यामांर सीमा के नज़दीक चरमपंथियों को दो समूहों को दो अलग-अलग निशाना बनाया जिसमें कई चरमपंथी मारे गए हैं."

इस अभियान में पड़ोसी देश म्यांमार के सहयोग की तरफ इशारा करते हुए उन्होंने कहा, "हम म्यामांर अधिकारियों के साथ संपर्क में हैं. दोनों देशों की सेनाओं के बीच सहयोग की ऐतिहासिक परंपरा है और हम भविष्य में भी उनसे सहयोग की अपेक्षा रखते हैं."
हाल ही में मणिपुर में चरमपंथियों ने भारतीय सेना के ख़िलाफ़ बड़ा हमला किया था जिसमें 18 जवान मारे गए थे.

In 2009, a Mukesh Ambani group entity took control of NDTV under the guise of a loan agreement. The plan was to find a buyer in “three to five years”. No buyer has been found so far and effectively, NDTV is controlled by the Ambanis

 

In July 2009, Vishvapradhan Commercial Pvt Ltd, a company associated with Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) gave a loan of Rs350 crore without any interest to NDTV's Prannoy Roy, his wife Radhika Roy and their private holding company RRPR Holding Pvt Ltd. This was a bailout-cum-takeover in the guise of a loan. 

 

The sole purpose of the loan was to repay funding obtained by Roys obtained from a bank, which is barred by the market regulator. Under the agreement signed on 21 July 2009, the Roys were to issue a convertible warrant that equals to 99.9% of the “fully diluted equity share capital of the borrowers (the Roys and RRPR Holdings) at the time of conversion” and the Ambani group agreed to limit their aggregate shareholding to 26%. 

 

Let us unravel for you this wonderfully structured “loan document” which effectively allowed Ambani to take over the company with a few key clauses. 

 

1. Clause 6 of the agreement talks about the warrant; the details of what this mean are a part of Schedule 1, under terms of the warrant. This says “at the sole option of the lender (Ambanis)”, the warrant can be converted into the underlying equity shares “at any time during the tenure of the loan or thereafter without requiring any further act or deed on the part of the lender”.  An agreement, which allows the lender to convert a warrant into share even after the tenure of the loan, can only be a sale.

 

2. The loan/sale had two conditions. First that the Roys would have to transfer 26% of their equity to RRPR Holdings through the sale of 1.63 crore equity shares. Secondly, that a company called NDTV Four Holdings Ltd, would invest $85 million in NDTV Studios Pvt Ltd and this would be brought into the parent company NDTV through a merger or some other means. The agreement does not go into details about what is this holding company and why the pre-condition of bring back $85 million to India, but we learn this is under investigation. 

 

3. Another clue that this loan is actually a sale is in Clause 11. It says that the borrower RRPR Holdings will have only three directors; of these, the lender (read Ambani group) will nominate one. More importantly, there can be no quorum unless this nominee director is present at every board meeting. Of course, there is also an undertaking that the lender will not interfere with the editorial policies of NDTV, but we can surmise how effectively that would work. 

 

4. Clause 19 is titled “Mutual Endeavour”. It says that over the next three to five years the Ambani group and RRPR would look for a “stable” and “reliable” buyer for RRPR who will “maintain the brand and the credibility of NDTV”. It is now over five years since the agreement was signed, which explains the rumours about the possible sale of this crucial holding that is key to the ownership of NDTV. But it also raises another question: were the Ambanis only bailing out NDTV for someone else? Ambani also owns Network 18 group and reportedly has stakes or has offered similar friendly bailout loans to several other media groups, making it among the largest media owners in India. 

 

5. Now let us look at some more corroboration. The agreement on behalf of Vishvapradhan Commercial is signed by Mr KR Raja. A simple google search shows that Mr Raja is the same person, whose private telephonic conversation with lobbyist Niira Radia led to Reliance Industries issuing a profuse apology in June 2011, to P Chidambaram, the then Home Minister.  More about Vishvapradhan Commercial’s transactions and its connection with Reliance is available in this report in Newlaundry and e-magazine. Mr Raja also figures in connection with RIL’s purchase of a stake in NewsX, which was subject of an investigation by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO). This was reported by a media website called The Hoot.

 

6. Everybody knows that a loan agreement is concerned about interest and not valuation. This one is different. Schedule 3 (2) and sub clauses b, c and d to the loan agreement deals with issues relating to NDTV and the NDTV Group that need “prior written consent” of the Ambani company. It documents the minimum valuation of the group at Rs1,346 crores; any corporate action below this requires the lender’s permission. 

 

7. Other issues that require such consent pertain to the possible amalgamation, consolidation, merger of NDTV with any other entity,  buyback of equity, reduction or alteration of its share capital or any action with regard to the share capital where by the promoters cease to be in sole control of NDTV and the NDTV group. 

 

8. These clauses make it very clear that NDTV’s promoters can do almost nothing without the consent of the Ambanis. Curiously, none of this is known to the public or to the shareholders and stock exchanges. While SEBI has recently imposed a fine of Rs2 crore on NDTV for a disclosure lapse of I-T notice, the non-disclosure of what it has signed in this loan document appears far more serious. 

 

The iron-clad agreement signed by RRPR and the Roys with Vishvapradhan Commercial in 2009 make it clear that the Ambanis have had complete control over this group. But it is still not clear whether the group is the ultimate beneficial owner.

The Indian Army on Tuesday conducted a cross-border revenge attack in Myanmar by killing nearly a dozen militants said to be involved in the massacre of 18 soldiers last week in Manipur's Chandel districtReports said the strike was done in coordination with the Myanmar regime after the clearance to conduct the surgical strikes were given at the highest level in the government. "Any threat to safety, security and national integrity will meet with a similar response," an Army spokesman said.
However, a report in the Economic Times claimed India will not admit to carrying out the rare cross-border operation.

Reports earlier this week also said India had given Myanmar phone intercepts and location details of at least two officials from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), who were reportedly in touch with the top leadership of insurgent group, NSCN-Khaplang, suspected to be behind the killing.
Army sources in the Eastern Command had said the ambush was carried out by 15 members of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), a Meitei outfit formed in 1994. The KYKL is closely aligned to the NSCN-K that broke off a 14-year ceasefire with the government this April.

Sombari Sabar, 11, a tribal girl who lost both her parents, lives alone, sells firewood for a living and regularly attends school. 

Anil Rai, a teacher at Astakwali upgraded middle school was all praise for Sombari. He said, "Sombari is a little wonder. She lost her mother at a young age to tuberculosis and her father Ratan Sabar died a month ago. None of her relatives came forward to support her. She stays alone in a dilapidated half-constructed Indira Awas. Sombari never fails to attend school. She is studying in class 5 and has full attendance." 

After finding out about Sombari, many non-government and private organisations extended a helping hand. Tata Steel and the Ananda Marg Ashram want to adopt her. 

Dumuria block development officer Mrityunjay Kumar said, "Apart from some organisations, a banker from Syndicate Bank Jamshedpur and a teacher couple from Ghatsila have applied for adopting the girl." He said, "All applications were forwarded to the district authority. District child protection officer Chanchal Kumari will visit Sombari on Monday and decide on a suitable home for her."

Sombari said, "It was my father's dream to make me literate." 

Maoist-hit Astakwali is 12 km away from Dumuria block of Ghatsila sub-division in East Singhbhum. Sombari's house does not have an electricity connection nor can she afford a kerosene lamp. At present Sombari is busy in her father's Sraddha ceremony or rituals after death. 

Sombari said, "These days I am collecting firewood and Sal leaves from the forest, so that on the day of the feast there is no dearth of wood or leaf-plates."

How To Install Google Android M App Drawer On Android Devices

Google has released its latest Android operating system at its annual I/O 2015 conference, which took place a week ago in San Francisco. The latest Android OS comes with number of improvements and specially focused on new design interface.

The Android M comes with redesigned app drawer, featuring a widget picker which will scroll vertically instead of sideways. However, the color and design of the app drawer looks similar to the Android Lollipop.

Here is a step-by-step tutorial on how to get the new Android M app drawer feature on your older version of Android running devices.

Step-by-step Installation Guide

Step 1: Download and install Google Now Launcher from the Play Store on your Android device.

Step 2: After installing the Launcher, exit the Play Store and jump to Home Screen.

Step 3: Now choose Google Now Launcher and select it as a default launcher and tap always when prompted.

Step 4: Now download Google App APK file and install on Android device.

Step 5: After installing the Google App, clear the Launcher's cache. To clear cache, go to device Settings >> Apps >> Google Now Launcher and than tap on Clear Cache button.

Step 6: Now return to the settings main menu and locate the Google App which you installed just now and clear the cache as well.

Note: Clearing the cache for both Google Now Launcher and Google Apps is mandatory.

Step 7: Now go back to Home Screen. Now the new Android M App drawer will work on the device.
You can uninstall the launcher and the Google Apps to revert to the old launcher.

Steps- Download Android M Home Launcher With New App Drawer On Any Device

Here’s how to download and install Android M home launcher with app drawer on any Android device right away in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Download the ‘Google Now Launcher’ from Play Store and install it on your Android device if you haven’t already.

Step 2: Once the app is downloaded and installed, hit the Home button on your Android device to exit the Play Store.

Step 3: You would have been prompted by now to choose a default launcher. Choose ‘Google Now Launcher’ and tap ‘Always’ to set it as the default home launcher for your device.

Step 4: With the launcher set, you now need to download and install the Google app apk file from Android M from here. You can either follow that link to download the apk file to your computer and install it via the sideloading method, or alternatively you can simply open the link from your Android device and download it directly to your phone or tablet.

To enable sideloading of apps navigate to Settings > Security and toggle the Unknown Sources option to ON.


Step 5: Once the download is complete, install the new Google app apk on your device.

Step 6: With the Google app installed, we need to clear Google Now Launcher’s cache. Navigate to Settings > Apps and look for Google Now Launcher.


Step 7: Tap Google Now Launcher and hit the Clear cache button.

Step 8: Go back and look for the Google app. You need to clear the cache for this app as well.

Step 9: Hit the Home button and Voila, you’re good to go.

It is important to note that clearing the cache helps you avoid a nasty bug associated with the launcher and Google app. If you do not clear the cache, the icons in the app drawer and the home screen will literally be a mess and you don’t want that.


If for some reason you decide to revert back, here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Launch the Play Store and search for the Google app.

Step 2: You should see the uninstall option so tap that once.

Step 3: Once the app is uninstalled, repeat steps 1 and 2, but this time hit Update.

Step 4: Head over to Settings > Apps and uninstall Google Now Launcher.

You will now have reverted back to the launcher you were using prior to installing the Android M’s with the all new app drawer.

Google has recently announced its latest Android M operating system at its annual I/O conferecne and also released the developer preview version immediately. The Android M comes with major enhancements which can battle against its huge rival, Apple iOS.

Apple is all set for the WWDC 2015, its annual developer meet, which is scheduled to kickoff in just few hours. We expect that, Apple will come up with new interesting announcement of its product including the next version of iOS for iPhone and iPad. So, how the two most popular mobile operating systems make their devices better than each other. Here is a comparison of Android M and iOS 9.

Android Pay / Apple Pay
Google announced the Android Pay for its Android M OS in an attempt to rival the Apple Pay, which was introduced back in October, 2014.
The search engine giant has already entered the mobile payment domain with the Google Wallet. But with the Android Play, Google is offering a completely re-organized mobile payment system.
The Android Pay will securely store details of credit card and other payment-related data on the smartphone and creates a virtual card similar to the Apple secure tokens. Furthermore, the Google is also challenging the Apple Pay by utilizing standardized fingerprint authentication.

The Android M interface will makes the mobile payment more convenient and secure, but Apple has introduced its proprietary mobile payment system last year and has already established something of a stake in the marketplace. Meanwhile this will remain a battleground between two tech giants.

Voice Recognition / Personal Assistant
The voice recognition is becoming an increasingly important corner in the mobile OS. Google introduced a enhanced voice recognition feature for the Android M platform. Apple has its Siri for iPhone and iPads. Meanwhile, Microsoft is now strongly emphasizing on voice recognition tool, Cortana.
Google is attempting to improve its voice recognition for search tools, specially focused on superior handling of mispronounced words and conversational requests.

On Google I/O, the company announced a new feature called 'Now on Tap' for Google Now, which basically show contextual information by long pressing on the home button. This feature will offer contextual information based on what you are doing with just a click or by voice command. Yes, the 'Ok Google' voice command will also work from any screen to get contextual information.
With the voice recognition technology, both companies are undoubtedly strengthening with their own software.

Maps
Google has also said that it will be updating the Maps providing uses with new features and capabilities. The improvised Maps apps will include the ability to display turn-by-turn directions and destination reviews while offline. The offline features can be used by downloading various regions of maps with associated information.
However, Google Maps is unquestionably the most prominent example of mapping technology that is currently available in the market. Meanwhile, Apple will place a strong emphasis on improving Apple Maps in the iOS 9, which is expected to be released in the WWDC 2015. Apple is looking to close the gap and achieve more brand awareness for its own version of the software.

Photos
Google unveiled a standalone photo and video service at the I/O and is already available for download. The Google Photos will compete with the Apple's new Photos app. Both services offers cloud-based image storage. While the Google Photos provides unlimited amount of photos which are up-to 16 megapixels quality and 1080p videos.

Other tech giants like Yahoo has its own cloud-based image storage applications called Flickr. However, Google has come up with interesting feature in the Photos service. The tech giant has made it very easy to search photos in the library. The application lets you to search for content in your photos, for instance, you can search for 'dog' or 'cycling' or 'door' and the Google Photos will display all your pictures that have dog, cycle and door in them, respectively.
Due to megapixels restrictions, Apple cannot match the offering of the Google in this application. But, with its proprietary software Apple's Photos app reached the market first.

Google Play / App Store

Google has also significantly improved the Google Play Store in an attempt to make it more friendly to families. But Apple App Store is still the definitive marketplace of its type, and most popular apps first comes to the Apple App Store.

Apple's CEO Tim Cook on Monday morning came on to the stage in San Francisco to reveal the technology giant's music service, OS X update El Capitan, iOS 9 and its Watch OS 2.

After being greeted by the crowd, Cook announced the ransom for a Cleveland Indians baseball player whose teammates are trying to shake him down for Apple products in exchange for a ball he wants to keep.
Soon after, Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering, announced the new updates.

After saying that OS X Yosemite had the fastest adoption rate of any PC operating system in history, Craig announces that the new OS X 10 will be called 'El Capitan' and will come with advancements under the hood to aid smarter ways to do things.

The new features will include Spotlight, Split View, and window management. Spotlight will now be able to search for more places and provide more useful results, including weather and sports scores.
Apple with this move seems to have prepared for the Windows 10 release and most of its intuitive menus seem to take a book from Windows' play book and making it better.

He also introduced Metal, Apple's graphics processing technology which will improve rendering by 50 percent and will scale up efficiency to 40 percent. Several gaming companies like Unity, 2K games are already adopting metal which uses Open CL, he added.

This announcement by Apple assumes significance as Apple has always been a bad platform for heavy games. This transition will allow the company to expand its sales in the world market.
The new El Capitan will be available to developers from Monday. "There will be a public beta in July and it will be rolled out to everyone in autumn via a free upgrade," Craig added.

As a part of the conference, Craig also revealed updates to the iOS 9 which will extend battery life, improve security and performance. He also showed advancements to Siri, Apple's virtual assistant which will be more proactive after the update.

Apple devices will now be able to anticipate what a user wants to do next based on location, the time, apps opened, or content the user is connected to. "It can also offer suggestions based on upcoming meetings and communication patterns," Craig said.

The event also saw Jennifer Bailey, a 10-year Apple veteran and vice president of internet services, announce Apple Pay which will be launched in Britain. Londoners can take advantage of it and pay for their transit on the bus using the app. With iOS 9, users will be able to add retail store cards and reward cards to Apple Pay.

A few updates on apps were also announced. The Notes app, which has been completely redesigned for iOS9, will allow users to add a checklist of to-do items and access camera app from Notes to add photos.
Maps, the app, will also get updated and will get a new Transit view. Maps will now include directions for public transportation like buses, trains, subways, and ferries. The service will be launched in London as well as Berlin, New York, Mecxico City, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Apple introduced a new News app. Susan Prescott, vice president of product marketing, who joined Apple in 2003, introduced the app and explained its functions. The app looked a lot like Flipboard and will include news, interactive stories, photo galleries, animations and video.

Apple, which launched the iWatch six weeks back, also announced the arrival of the WatchOS 2. Users will be able to add photos, add photo album and add time-lapse photos for the watch face. The watch will be capable of showing and aiding usage of car-battery charge, home-control systems etc.

Interestingly, the watch will come with a time travel mode which shows the user about his schedule planned in his calendar. Features like alarms, replying to email, sketching ability and face time audio will also be present.
The new OS for the watch will also support voice control for Siri, apple pay, the wallet app along with the transit view on Maps app. The watch with the new update will be able to function with standalone Wi-FI and access microphone on it. Apple will also release watchkit (libraries for WatchOS) for developers to develop more apps for the watch.

At the end of the conference, Apple launched its music service. The service will not only host a library of songs but also connect artists with fans and will also run a 24/7 global radio station based out of three cities.

Senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani on Monday took to micro-blogging site Twitter to announce his breakup with Prime Minister Modi over the issue of appointment of Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC).
"My diminishing respect for you ends today," said the noted lawyer in his letter that was posted on social site Twitter.
Jethmalani's letter enclosed "clinching evidence of the Finance Minister's recommendee's total unfitness for the CVC post."

He said that he had sent four installments of the incriminating evidence in this regard to the prime minister.
Attacking Modi on the recent appointment of KV Chowdary as the CVC, the senior lawyer said that he had advised the prime minister not to make any appointment for the top job.
The senior lawyer even said that he was shocked to hear the Attorney General announce in the Supreme Court that appointment for the top job has already been made.

The Rajya Sabha member even challenged the prime minister saying that now they will fight in apex court and the court of the people of India.
This is not the first time when Jethmalani has written letter to the prime minister regarding the appointment of CVC. The letter dated May 26 and June 2 also emphasised on the fact that the senior lawyer was not ok with the CVC appointment.

Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani on Monday criticised the appointment of K V Chowdary as Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC). The irked senior lawyer had already expressed his dissatisfaction over Chowdary’s name and had written to both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee.
As the appointments were announced today, Jethmalani wrote in his letter to PM Modi, “My diminishing respect for you ends today.”

Former CBDT chief K V Chowdary and Information Commissioner Vijai Sharma were on Monday appointed Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) and Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), posts which have remained vacant for over nine months on which the government drew some flak.
T M Bhasin, Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Bank, has also been appointed as Vigilance Commissioner.
Their appointments were approved today by President Pranab Mukherjee, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said, a week after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge recommended their names.

With Chowdary’s appointment, the government has for the first time broken away with the tradition of appointing an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer as the chief of the anti-corruption watchdog since it was formed in 1964.
The appointments have come after opposition leaders including Congress President Sonia Gandhi had attacked the government over keeping these posts vacant and raised questions whether it was afraid of transparency.

Chowdary, a former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, is working as an Adviser in Supreme Court appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) to check black money. He retired as Chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in October, last year.
When reports appeared that Chowdary’s name was cleared, senior lawyers Ram Jethmalani and Prashant Bhushan criticised the government and questioned his credentials for the job.
Ram Jethmalani had written a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee expressing his concern over K V Chowdary’s appointment as the news CVC. On May 26, he had written an elaborate letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue.

In the Central Information Commission, the government has followed the convention of appointing the senior most Information Commissioner’s as the CIC.
Sharma, a former Environment Secretary, has been working as Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commissioner since 2012. He will have a tenure of about six months as he attains the age of 65 years on December 1, this year.

Both Chowdary and Bhasin have been appointed for a term of four years from the date on which they enter upon their office or till they attain the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, an official release said.
Interestingly, former Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Rajiv, who is working as acting Central Vigilance Commissioner, is three batch senior to Chowdary. Rajiv is a 1975 batch IPS officer, whereas, Chowdary belongs to 1978 batch of IRS (Income Tax cadre).
The Central Vigilance Commission is headed by a CVC and comprises two vigilance commissioners and today’s appointment constitutes the full Commission.
In the CIC, there are vacancies of four Information Commissioners. The incumbents are Basant Seth, Yashovardhan Azad, Sharat Sabharwal, Manjula Prasher, M A Khan Yusufi and Madabhushanam Sridhar Acharyulu.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had attended the meeting for the selection of CIC while Home Minister Rajnath Singh attended the other meeting on CVC, held on June 1.
Central Information Commission, which is mandated to resolve appeals and complaints filed against government departments or public authorities by information seekers under the Right to Information Act, has been working without a Chief for over nine months, after the tenure of CIC Rajiv Mathur
ended on August 22, 2014.

A total of 40,051 cases — comprising 32,531 appeals and 7,520 complaints filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act — are pending in the Commission as on today, as per an official data.

The term of Central Vigilance Commissioner Pradeep Kumar had ended on September 28, last year, while Vigilance Commissioner J M Garg completed his tenure on September 7.

A total of 203 applicants were in the race for CIC and the government had received about 130 applications for the two vacant posts (CVC and Vigilance Commissioner) at the anti-corruption watchdog.

Apple today showed a video during its WWDC keynote speech to showcase a few key numbers detailing the growth and evolution of the App Store since it launched seven years ago. Apple CEO Tim Cook noted that the App Store has been an "economic boon" and forever changed software distribution, with 98 percent of all Fortune 500 companies creating an iOS app and the average person owning about 119 apps within their iPhone.


In total, the company said that there are 850 apps downloaded every second, and a grand total of 100 billion that have been downloaded since its opening. App developers have seen a collective total of $30 billion in profit since third-party apps launched on the App Store, making Apple's online application-focused storefront the most profitable app marketplace on the planet. Showcasing a few celebrities and various technological personalities, Apple's App Store-related video pointed out that the Store's current growth is only the beginning for what the company has planned to do with the App Store.

At today's WWDC keynote, Apple unveiled iOS 9, the latest version of its mobile operating system. iOS 9, which is designed to improve upon iOS 8, has four central areas of focus: intelligence, apps, iPad multitasking, and foundation.

With iOS 9, our iOS devices are more intelligent and proactive thanks to improved Siri features and new deeper Spotlight search, and the iPad experience is better than ever with the addition of multitasking, letting users run two apps at once on the same screen. Built in apps like Notes and Maps have gained new features, there's a newly announced News app for reading news stories, and Passbook has been renamed to Wallet.

Most importantly, performance improvements have eked out additional battery life, adding up to an hour in normal usage mode and up to three hours with a new power saving mode. iOS 9 will run on all devices that supported iOS 8.

"iOS 9 is packed with more intelligence throughout, and delivers big updates to the apps customers use most — Maps supports public transit, a redesigned Notes app provides great new ways to capture ideas, and a beautiful News app delivers content that's personalized to your interests," said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering. "With our new iPad features, users can take advantage of the power of iPad, working in two apps at the same time with Split View, Slide Over or Picture-in-Picture."

The new, more proactive Siri is contextually aware and can offer you more information than ever. For instance, if a user runs every morning Siri can offer music to listen to when the user plugs in their headphones. The music is context sensitive and is dependent on time and place, so if a user is in the car Siri may offer an audiobook or podcast instead of music if that's what the user usually does. If someone calls a user with a number not in their address book, Siri can now look through email to see if it can identify the number. If it can, it'll display it.

iOS 9 has also been updated with a brand new Search window, which offers commonly used apps or contacts, one-tap links to nearby locations and breaking news. There's also a brand new API for Search, which means that it can now pull up content from within apps. When you tap on the information, you're deep linked into the app. This new search feature is accessed by swiping left on the home screen.

With the new Search and Siri features, Apple placed a heavy emphasis on privacy. All features are anonymous and are not linked to an Apple ID, with users in control of data and content.

When it comes to apps, both Maps and Notes are getting major updates. Notes includes new formatting options, checklists, and sketching tools, along with the ability to share notes from Share Sheets. Maps is gaining Transit directions and a new transit view that shows off the transit lines in a city, from buses to trains to subways.

The transit options are integrated into directions, allowing users to get step-by-step directions in between transit stops. Siri is also integrated into Transit, so users can ask Siri how to get to a location via a transit option. Transit is coming to a limited number of cities, including many in China.


Apple also announced a brand new, Flipboard-like app called News. The app, like Flipboard, takes content from sources like ESPN, Politico, the New York Times, Conde Nast publications and local news and presents them with rich typography and beautiful imagery. Users can also keep track of specific topics they like to read about. The new app will roll out to the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.

The iPad is getting some exclusive updates in iOS 9, including multitasking and a brand-new QuickType keyboard. Users can now bring in apps on the side of the screen in a new feature called "SlideOver," which brings in windowed versions of apps like Notes, Mail and Messages with a quick gesture. Multitasking also allows users to put two apps next to each other with SplitView. Additionally, there's also a picture-in-picture feature that allows you to keep watching video from another app while you do something else, like check email. While most features are available for all iPads, SplitView is only available for iPad Air 2.


Performance and battery life have been improved in iOS 9, with a brand new Low Power mode that can extend battery life for 3 hours. The Cupertino company has also updated its Software Update feature, improving the time it takes to download its latest software updates. Additionally, Apple has reduced the free space needed to download iOS 9, from 4.6 GB to 1.3 GB.

Apple announced an update to Apple Pay, bringing loyalty cards and store credit and debit cards to the payment service. Kohl's, JCPenney and BJ's are some of the early store credit and debit cards that'll be accepted.

CarPlay also got an upgrade in iOS 9, as it now supports apps by automakers that control things in the car. It also supports more kinds of car screens, including HiDPI screens. Finally, CarPlay is now wireless, allowing users to keep their phones in their pockets while in the car.

For developers, iOS 9's various kits have also seen improvements in the new software. GameplayKit has AI and pathfinding while ReplayKit allows users to to record their gameplay and share it, much like users can do on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. HealthKit has gained new health metrics. And finally, HomeKit has support for Window Shades, CO censors, motion sensors and security systems. Users will also be able to remotely and securely access their home from iCloud.

Apple also announced Swift 2, an upgrade to its programming language, and made Swift open source. iOS 9, which is a free update, is available to registered developers immediately, and it will be available to public beta testers beginning in July. A public release will come in the fall.
