How to Make Icons Bigger on Windows 7 & XP or Show, hide, or resize desktop icons

Looking at small icons on your Windows XP computer all day at your business can result in your eyes straining to see what's on the screen. This can result in headaches and over time can result in vision problems. You can make the folder icons through the Windows XP operating system larger within your computer's advanced display settings, which can be accessed through a context menu.

To resize desktop icons

Step 1
Right-click an open area on the Windows XP desktop to open a context menu.

Step 2
Click "Properties" to open the Display Properties dialog box.

Step 3
Select the "Appearance" tab and click "Advanced" to open the Advanced Appearance dialog box.

Step 4
Click the "Item" drop-down menu and select "Icon."

Step 5
Highlight the existing number in the Size field and enter your own number. You can enter any number up to 72.

Step 6
Press "OK." The size of all the folder icons within the operating system are changed automatically.
