Twitter ISIS released a video claiming to show Jordanian pilot Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh being burned alive.
An online video posted by ISIS claims to show them burning Jordanian pilot Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh alive in a cage.
Jordan confirmed the death and vowed “punishment and revenge.”
“The military forces announce that the hero pilot, Muath al-Kaseasbeh, has fallen as a martyr, and ask God to accept him with the martyrs,” military spokesman Mamdouh al-Ameri said in a televised statement.
“While the military forces mourn the martyr, they emphasize his blood will not be shed in vain. Our punishment and revenge will be as huge as the loss of the Jordanians.”
The Jordanian was captured in December after his F-16 crashed near Raqqa, Syria. ISIS has claimed to have shot it down.
On Sunday, Jordan had offered to exchange an Al-Qaeda prisoner for the pilot.
Jordan state TV confirmed the death, but said Lt. Kaseasbeh, 26, was killed a month ago.
The 20-minute video showed images of the pilot with a black eye. At the end of the video the pilot is shown in an outdoor cage in an orange jumpsuit that has a fluid all over it.

Jordan said it was willing to hand over Sajida al-Rishawi, who is on death row for her role in the triple hotel bombings in Jordan in 2005 which killed 60 people.
Local reports say Rishawi and several other prisoners will now be executed tonight.
SITE Intel Group, which tracks terrorists’ activities, first reported the video.
In the past 10 days, ISIS has executed two Japanese hostages, journalist Kenji Goto and contractor Haruna Yukawa.
