Public sector oil marketing companies announced a hike in the retail selling price of petrol and diesel by ₹3.96 a litre and ₹2.37, respectively, in Delhi with a corresponding increase in other States. The increase includes State levies and will vary from State to State.

The new prices are effective from 1 may 2015.

“Prices of petrol and diesel were last revised down wards with effect from Ap ril 15. Since last price change , there has been a sharp increase in the trend of international prices of petrol and diesel and rupee-dollar exchange rate has also depreciated.

“Therefore, combined impact of both these factors warrant an upward revision in prices, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price increase,” IndianOil said in a statement After the increase petrol will cost ₹63.16 a litre in Delhi while diesel will cost ₹49.57 a litre.
