Malala Yousafzai's attackers are 'jailed for life' by Pakistan court
Ten men have been jailed for life, according to media reports, for the shooting of the education and women's rights campaigner in 2012
A court in Pakistan has reportedly
sentenced 10 men for the attack on Malala Yousafzai, the education
activist, to life in prison.
The
men who are members of the Pakistani Taliban were responsible for the
shooting of the then-15-year-old when she was on board her school bus in
the Swat valley.
A court official
confirmed the news to AFP: "Ten attackers who were involved in the
attack on Malala Yousafzai have been sentenced to life imprisonment."
Militants boarded the teenage activist's school bus and shot her in the
head in October 2012 for her outspoken views on girls' education, in an
attack that also wounded two of her friends.
Following her attack, she moved to Birmingham after she was sent to
Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the immediate aftermath of the
attack for surgery on her skull.

Officials say the 10 men, who do not include the man named as chief suspect, belonged to the Pakistani Taliban.
Ataullah Khan, a 23-year-old militant, was identified by a police report at the time of the shooting - but he did not appear in the list of 10 men convicted on Thursday.
