Congress releases video of Uma Bharti attacking Narendra Modi

New Delhi: Mining out fresh ammunition for a prospective slugfest, Congress on Thursday released a three-year-old video clip in which senior party leader Uma Bharti has purportedly described Narendra Modi as an agent of destruction and his development claims of Gujarat as a "sham".

In the audio-visual presentation, Bharti who was then heading Bharatiya Janshakti Party after parting ways from BJP, says that she never saw "Hindus so frightened as in Gujarat" and that "Gujarat has become a fear stricken state".

The video CD, which Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi admitted was of a period when Bharti was not in the BJP, shows the firebrand leader debunking the development claims of the Gujarat Chief Minister as well his Hindutva pitch.

"I know him since 1973... He is not a Vikas Purush but a Vinash Purush. His claim of GDP growth and the uplift of people from the BPL to APL category is fake...In the last five years, Gujarat became a bigger debter. Gujarat got neither Ram nor Roti. It should be freed from the Vinash Purush.

..."It is media which has made Modi so big, inflated the balloon. Since it is who have inflated the balloon, you will have to deflate it," Bharti says in the video.

Latching to the video clip, Singhvi said while it is true that Bharti was not in the BJP, when she said this the fact also remains that she was "not saying these things in the middle of an election speech" and hence there has to be some truth in what a senior leader like he says.

"If somebody does not make such remarks during election days, it means there is more truth in that... She has not rejected so far what she had said. These comments on the BJP's prime ministerial candidate were made by a senior leader like Bharti," Singhvi said.

Replying to questions on why the party released this CD in the middle of the election, Singvi said that though this was not the primary focus of the AICC press conference it does show that "there are thousands of such persons in the BJP, who consider Narendra Modi a dictator, a Vinash Purush and his claims about the development of Gujart are fake."

The AICC had plans to release the video on Wednesday but it was put off as the CD player failed to work.

Union minister Anand Sharma, who is senior spokesman of the party, was planning to show to the media the CD which showed the BJP PM candidate and his party in poor light.

But with the CD repeatedly showing "incompatibility" on a large TV screen, the presentation was postponed. The CD is of 2011.

The CD was shown after the Congress spokesperson finished his suo motu press conference in which placed Modi in league with dictators like Hitler, Musolini, Edi Amin and Zia Ul Haq. (With agency inputs)

नई दिल्ली। कांग्रेस ने आज बीजेपी की ही तर्ज पर नरेंद्र मोदी पर हमला बोलने के लिए एक वीडियो का सहारा लिया। वीडियो उमा भारती की एक प्रेसवार्ता का है जिसमें वो नरेंद्र मोदी को विकास पुरुष नहीं बल्कि विनाश पुरुष की संज्ञा दे रही हैं। वीडियो तब का है जब उमा बीजेपी से बाहर हो गई थीं और अपनी अलग पार्टी बना चुकी थीं।

वीडियो में उमा भारती कह रही हैं कि गुजरात एक भयमुक्त राज्य हो गया है। ये नरेंद्र मोदी की देन हैं। यहां का हिंदू इतना डरा हुआ कभी नहीं था। उमा ने कहा कि मैं अपने मोटा भाई(नरेंद्र मोदी) को वर्ष 73 से जानती हूं। वो विकास पुरुष नहीं हैं, विनाश पुरुष हैं और उन्होंने गुजरात का विनाश किया है।

उमा ने कहा कि जिस जीडीपी का मोदी दावा कर रहे हैं, वो फर्जी है। जब गुजरात में स्त्री भी असुरक्षित रही और हिंदू और मुसलमान दोनों भयभीत रहे तो लॉ एंड ऑर्डर कहां रहा। गुजरात को न राम मिले, न रोटी।

गौरतलब है कि हाल ही में उमा ने मोदी के अच्छा वक्ता न होने की बात कहकर विरोधियों को मोदी और बीजेपी पर हमले का एक मौका दे दिया था। इसके बाद ये भी खबर आई कि उमा भोपाल से चुनाव लड़ना चाहती हैं लेकिन पार्टी उन्हें एमपी से दूर ही रखना चाहती है और झांसी में रोकना चाहती है।

इसके बाद रायबरेली से सोनिया गांधी के खिलाफ चुनाव लड़ने के लिए उमा भारती का नाम उछाला गया लेकिन उमा ने ये शर्त रखकर पार्टी को बैकफुट पर धकेल दिया कि वे रायबरेली से लड़ने के लिए झांसी सीट नहीं छोड़ेंगी।

वैसे ये पहला मौका नहीं है जब किसी पार्टी ने विरोधियों पर हमले के लिए उन्हीं के नेता का वीडियो इस्तेमाल किया हो। इससे पहले बीजेपी ने भी आम आदमी पार्टी के नेता अरविंद केजरीवाल को नरेंद्र मोदी के कहे मुताबिक पाक एजेंट साबित करने के लिए प्रशांत भूषण के पुराने बयान दिखाए थे, जिसपर काफी हंगामा मचा था।
